Dear ISA members and relevant organizations,

Mini/Micro LED has continuously made breakthroughs and has become the main concern of the display industry in the couple of years. Its advantages of “thin film, miniaturization, array, and high integration” are on the rise in the application of AR/VR, intelligent vehicle, naked eye 3D, metaverse and other fields, and people are looking forward to more high-level applications of this disruptive technology in the field of micro display, communication, and light therapy. We are pleased to see that Mini/Micro LEDs’ market is responding to this trend with its rapid rise.

In order to strengthen the cooperation between China and Europe in the field of Micro-LED manufacturing and application, learn from each other, benchmark themselves, exchange innovative achievements, promote industrial complementarity and seek business opportunities, ISA and EPIC will co-organize the “Online Technology Meeting on Mini/Micro-LEDs Technologies and Applications” by Zoom platform on July 4, 2023 (15:00-18:00 (Beijing time) 9:00-12:00 (CEST)).

The meeting will be co-chaired by Prof. Qun Frank YAN, Chairman of ISA Micro-LED Committee, Member of ISA Board of Advisors, Treasurer of Society for Information Display (SID), Director of SID Beijing Chapter and Distinguished Professor of Fuzhou University and Dr. Jeremy Picot-Clemente, Photonics Technologies Manager of European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC).

The European participants of this meeting are manufacturing enterprises and commercial companies in related applications.

Background of the meeting

EPIC is Europe’s largest opto-electronics industry organization dedicated to promoting the development of the European opto-electronics industry and fostering the opto-electronics industry ecosystem. As a catalyst and facilitator of technological and commercial progress, EPIC builds a global network for its members to accelerate the internationalization of European optoelectronic technology. EPIC has more than 800 members, of which around 90% are European and around 10% are American. Its members are mainly manufacturing companies of optoelectronic components and product, including optical components, diodes, lasers, sensors, production equipment, materials and software, etc.

To promote the development of Micro-LED industry and form an industrial chain and a good industrial ecology, International SSL Alliance (ISA) established the Micro-LED Committee in 2020. Professor Qun YAN is the chairman of the committee.

The major works of the committee are:

Carry out the exchange of technology R&D and innovation results, including the innovation or breakthroughs of key manufacturing technology, such as epitaxy, packaging, drive, measurement technology, etc.;

Promote the links between the upstream and downstream. For example, the dialogue and cooperation among product demander, the product provider and the manufacturer;

Demonstrate and display the latest technology, application and pilot project.
