                 ISA LiFi Committee and

“2026 14th International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Wireless Optical Communications & ISA Global LiFi Summit”

Light Fidelity (LiFi), as one of the Visible Light Communication, known as is a groundbreaking wireless transmission technology that utilizes visible light for data transmission. It was first proposed by Professor Harald Haas, who is globally recognized by the LiFi community as the “Father of LiFi”.

LiFi is a novel wireless communication technology that employs semiconductor light sources as signal transmitters and utilizes unlicensed optical spectra to achieve wireless connectivity, supporting high-density device connections and ultra-high-speed data transmission. LiFi technology holds the potential to serve as the "nervous system" for future AI-driven automated systems, significantly contributing to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The integration of LiFi with 5G/6G technologies will deliver faster and higher-capacity mobile broadband connections, unlocking broader application possibilities. In this context, LiFi communication technology will help diversify the fundamental functions of the lighting industry and foster new business models across related fields, including smart homes, smart cities, Industry 4.0, healthcare, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

In response to the needs of ISA members and to promote the global development of the LiFi industry, The ISA LiFi Committee was established in November 2020, with Professor Haas serving as its chairman. The "ISA Global LiFi Summit" was held on January 26-27, 2021, February 16-17, 2023, March 11-12, 2024, and November 5-6, 2025 (either online or offline) respectively. Representatives from research institutes, renowned universities, and related enterprises from nearly 20 countries worldwide attended the summit, including China, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Israel, Austria, Hungary, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar.

The “2026 14th International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Wireless Optical Communications & ISA Global LiFi Summit” Co-hosted by Southeast University and ISA, marks the fifth global gathering organized by the ISA LiFi Committee and serves as its second onsite event (the first onsite meeting was in Dubai on November 5-6, 2025). The summit aims to convene top-tier experts in the fields of LiFi and wireless optical communication to facilitate in-depth exchanges on key technological breakthroughs, industrial implementation progress, and integrated innovative applications achieved since the release of the IEEE 802.11bb standard in 2024.

LiFi, as a new type of wireless optic communication technology, has now been applied in various fields such as underwater communication, secure communication, intelligent vehicles, underground tunnels, civilian nuclear facilities, and anti-electromagnetic wave interference for drones. As an industry, it is however still in the early stage of development, and its marketization and commercialization are still in the process of building momentum.
