Solid State Lighting (SSL) is a technological revolution in the field of lighting. It has the characteristics of low power consumption, long lifetime and rich colors, and is an important part of promoting energy conservation and emission reduction to achieve sustainable development. Through the launch of BRGLI, ‘the Belt and Road’ will be promoted to participate in the docking of national development strategies in the field of SSL, complement each other's advantages, jointly expand new growth space, and provide new opportunities for the development and application of global SSL.

The BRGLI proposed:

Ÿ   To promote the SSL applications: Enhance the application of SSL in the countries involving the Belt and Road Initiative, including the construction and upgrading of city street lighting, public institution lighting, industrial and mining lighting, commercial lighting, residential lighting and other functional lighting applications. Meanwhile, enhance the public awareness of SSL technology and application, and the green consumption by accelerating the deployment of SSL applications.

Ÿ   To adopt the innovative commercial mechanisms: Promote the application of SSL in the field of public lighting by adopting new business models such as Public-Private Partnership (PPP), Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), etc.

Ÿ   To strengthen the SSL capacity building: Promote the capacity building by means of professional training, exchanging expertise, joint construction of laboratories and innovation centers, etc. Encourage the SSL enterprises participating in the standardization activities of relevant professional international and regional organizations. Meanwhile, carry out the cooperation in SSL testing and certification.

Ÿ   To foster the SSL “Eco-System”: Carry out extensive exchanges with all of the stakeholders along the SSL industrial chain, including the SSL technology innovation, industry development, standardization progress, talent training and financing, etc. by jointly participation, construction and development, to foster the SSL “Eco-System” with advanced technology, high-quality products and normative market.

ISA will actively participate in and respond to this initiative in collaboration with global partners to further drive the innovation and application of SSL globally, particularly in countries along the
